Last year's top draft pick is headed back to the juniors. Bryan Allen was not signed by Wednesday's midnight deadline, and must now return to his junior club, the Oshawa Generals (OHL). Canucks' GM Brian Burke and Assistant GM Dave Nonis held a conference call with reporters, stating that problems involved bonus clauses in the contract. Both sides had agreed to pay Allen the rookie salary cap of $975,000US. Allen will now be unavailable to play for the Canucks except in extreme situations as an emergency callup. Burke called the negotations 'friendly', but now the team must wait until next year to put the 18-year-old under contract.
